Welcome to Cara Armstrong Kindergarten

Cara Armstrong Kindergarten is an iconic play-based kindergarten which has been offering the children of Hawthorn East and its surrounding neighbourhoods a quality kinder experience and family-friendly atmosphere since 1945.

The philosophy behind the program is “learning through play” and an emphasis is placed on providing a stimulating environment and a warm positive atmosphere where children can develop confidence, curiosity, communication skills, and cooperative behaviour.  

The kindergarten has a beautiful outdoor area for an indoor/outdoor program that provides for children’s exploration, experimentation and development of social skills. Both the indoor and outdoor play spaces have been extensively renovated. The building now features a new open plan kitchen perfectly tailored for children to participate in cooking, and outside, a brand new sensory garden complete with wheelchair-accessible path.

Cara Armstrong Kindergarten achieved an exceeding rating by the Department of Education in their recent assessment of our Kindergarten!
